Of all Wagners scores 'The Mastersingers of Nuremburg'is the most overtly Bachian. It includes such igenious technical figures as triple counterpoint, and an original chorale in Baroque idiom. This piece is ideally suited for use before church services or during communio. In recitalo it may be effectively juxtaposed with 'Ride of the Valkries'for maximum contrast, with only a brief pause. This is a fantastic transcription of this work suitable for almost any occasion.
